The capital city Delhi has been infamous of rapes, misconduct, eve-teasing, mischief, misdoing etc. Ever since the Nirbhaya Rape Case made the headlines in 2012, we have been continuously seeing and hearing cases or rapes and killing from the city Delhi. Rape is not just a Women’s issue, but it’s a concern of the entire nation. It happens when men stop behaving as human beings and instead behave as animals. No wait, not even animals would do such brutality with innocents. Every day when we tune in to a news channel or pick up a  daily news paper to read about happenings in and around the country, we come across something that not only strikes our mind but leaves us to keep thinking of how can some people go to this extent.

One such unfortunate incident happened in the capital city of India, Delhi where a 16 year old innocent was allegedly raped and was later set on fire to death. The incident took place on July 28, 2016, Thursday when the two unrecognised youths allegedly came to the victim’s house. They forcefully sexually assaulted her and then murdered her to death. Later, the two culprits also tried to burn her body by setting it to fire in her own house.

During the preliminary investigation, police alleged that it was a suicide, but later the autopsy report of the dead exposed that she was strangulated to death and her body was set on fire and cleared the fact that it was a murder and not a suicide. Investigation further revealed that the youths named Ashu and Danish, had barged into the girl’s three floored house when all the other members of the family were away and she was all alone. They both raped her one by one. They choked her with a pillow to quieten her screams. They then set her body on fire by pouring turpentine oil on her private parts.
(According to the Times of India report)

During police investigation, a victim’s friend came forward and told the police that the two youth used to follow her and the deceased every now and then they out of their homes. She also informed the police that they also raped her once and tried to murder her but she somehow managed to escape. Feared of slander and defamation, she did not disclose this incident to anyone, not even to her family. She was also threatened by the two culprits with dire consequences, police said.
