Google Science Fair 2016 - 2 Indian Teen Selected

Indians are blooming at the world platform with their impeccable intelligence. This statement could be rightly proved as the tech giant Google has announced that 2 Indians are the part of the Google Science Fair 2016. It is a competition announced by Google to promote talents all over the world and award them. These two Indians are among the 16 global finalists for this event. This is the sixth Google Science Fair and these participants will compete for $50,000 scholarship.

It is confirmed that all these 16 participants will have to travel along with their families to Mountain View city located in Santa Clara County, California. The winner of the competition will be announced at a ceremony conducted by Google on September 27.

“From a breathalyzer test that could predict lung cancer to a carbon filter that may significantly decrease Styrofoam waste, these top 16 projects from nine countries around the world represent the brightest ideas to make things better through science and engineering”, said Andrea Cohan, Programme Lead, Google Science Fair, in a statement.

Shriyank of 16 years, from National Public School, Bengaluru, has submitted his project to Google with a title “KeepTab: A novel way to aid memory with deep learning algorithms!” Keep tab is a described as a wearable device-based solution which operates while using a cloud-based deep learning framework aiming to aid human memory helping them to recall the location of day-to-day objects.

The other bright student is Mansha Fatima of 15 years, a junior at Sadhu Vaswani International School, Hyderabad, focused on creating an “Automated Water Management and Monitoring System in Paddy Fields”. It focuses on helping the farmers in monitoring the water levels in the rice paddy fields as well as automates the water levels for yielding best possible crops.

Talking about Google and India, Google is interested in setting a target of taking the number of Indians using the internet to a higher one billion-mark. “We have a very simple mission in India. We want to get a billion Indians online,” its Vice President for South East Asia and India, Rajan Anandan said at an event in Mumbai. But the time frame for this was not decided to know the fact that India has 350 million internet users now and the number is rising every day to reach 600 million by 2020.

We are surely proud of these two students as they have brightened up the name of our country on an international platform and we wish you all the best for the competition.
