With monsoon reaching the peak, changes of getting diseases is increasing. During monsoon, water gets collected in empty dustbins, tyres, coolers, stores, pits, road potholes, etc which further give rise to mosquitoes and other insects which spread diseases. There are many diseases which are common during the monsoon season in India like cold, flu, viral fever, dengue, typhoid, diarrhea etc and thus it is always said to keep extra care of the self. Cleanliness and sanitation during the monsoon season is a must.

Currently, dengue is one such disease that is spreading rapidly in the country. This disease is caused by a mosquito which has symptoms like fever, body aches, joint pain and rashes. Dengue cases are increasing in the country, highest being recorded in West Bengal. The Dengue mark in the state of West Bengal has crossed 2,000 this year so far. 14 people have already died and many are admitted to various government and private hospitals and health centres. A Health Department official said, “The official death count so far is at 14 and two more persons are suspected to have died of the mosquito-borne disease.”

Around 418 fresh dengue cases have been detected in the state in the past three days i.e. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

“The total number of dengue cases till January stands at 2,170. The number of fresh cases detected between Wednesday evening and Thursday is 286,” state Health Services Director Biswaranjan Satpathy told.

“The confirmed deaths due to the disease total 14. However, we have received reports of two more persons dying of dengue. But these are not confirmed,” he said.

“In one case, we don’t know where the person hails from. In none of the cases do we have the death certificate so far,” the official said.
