Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the deceased head of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena (SRRKS), had reached out three times to top police authorities in Rajasthan, requesting security due to perceived threats.

His wife, Sheela Shekhawat, revealed in the FIR that Gogamedi sought security on three separate occasions in February and March 2022. Despite Punjab Police notifying Rajasthan Police about potential threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, no security measures were provided, alleging intentional negligence by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, the DGP, and other officials.

The FIR for Gogamedi’s murder has been filed against Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji under various sections of the IPC, including murder, attempt to murder, assault, criminal conspiracy, and Arms Act, along with sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

Records obtained by The Indian Express reveal that Gogamedi himself was involved in 30 cases. His legal history dates back to 1994, including cases like kidnapping, murder, robbery, extortion, rioting, impersonation, assault on public servants, among others. Some of these cases are under investigation by the CID – Crime Branch of Rajasthan Police and the CBI.

The charges against him include serious offenses such as murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, sexual harassment, robbery, extortion, and various violations of laws including the Arms Act, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, The National Highways Act, and the Information Technology Act. He was acquitted in at least 15 out of the 30 cases, including a rape case filed in Jaipur in 2016 where he was cleared in 2022.

Most of these cases were registered in Hanumangarh, Haryana, Jaipur, and Nagaur.
