The Delhi Police have apprehended a 30-year-old software engineer named Saikrishna Jagali from Bagalkot in Karnataka regarding their investigation into the recent breach of security at the new Parliament house.
Authorities revealed that Saikrishna, whose father is a retired police officer, is employed at a multinational company and was implicated during the interrogation of Manoranjan D, an individual arrested earlier in connection with the case.
Allegedly, Manoranjan and Sagar Sharma breached security by jumping from the visitors’ gallery into the Lok Sabha hall during a session and used colored smoke canisters before being captured by parliamentarians. Subsequently, Neelam Azad and Amol Shinde, their accomplices, were caught protesting outside Parliament with smoke canisters. Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat were also apprehended for aiding the accused.
During the investigation, Manoranjan’s diary indicated Saikrishna’s involvement. Both individuals were former roommates in Bengaluru during their college years in 2008-09. Upon discovering Manoranjan’s diary, the police questioned him, leading to the detention of Saikrishna. He was being brought to New Delhi for further interrogation after being questioned in Bagalkot.
Authorities also mentioned that Saikrishna’s father, a retired deputy superintendent, and his family were questioned regarding his alleged involvement. According to sources, call records between Saikrishna and Manoranjan were obtained, indicating coordination during the incident. Officials suspect that they had been planning the protest for several days.
Additionally, the police apprehended a 50-year-old man named Atul Kulshershtha from Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun district for questioning. Kulshershtha, reportedly unemployed, was allegedly seeking to make “easy money” through the crime.
