India celebrates its National Maritime Day on 5th April every year. This day is marked as the journey of SS Loyalty, the first ship of Scindia Steam Navigation Company Ltd travelled to United Kingdom. In 1919, this ship sailed from Bombay to London especially at the time when sea routes were controlled by the British.
Today is 55th edition of the National Maritime Day. The theme of 55th edition of the National Maritime Day 2018 celebrations is “Indian Shipping – An Ocean of opportunity”. This day is being observed since year 1964.
