According To Irani, Technical Textile Needs a Propel in the Industry

After the Pakistan terror attacks, we are seeing a great shift in the buying habits in the market. People are refraining from buying China products. Because of all this bustle, textile industry of the country has got fair chances to grow its wings. Government is eager to elevate technical textile and enhance the scope of research and development in this section to attract more investments.

On Friday, in the annual conference of International Textile Manufacturing federation held in Jaipur, Smriti Irani (Union Minister of Textiles) said that the technical textile segment has fair chances of growth in India, but the R&D needs to introduce some advancement in it. She also asked for suggestions from the industry, so that government can come forward with some fitting policies.

Technical textile has its extent in various industries like automobile, construction, packaging and healthcare. Recently, the government introduced some programmes such as TMTT ( Technology Mission on Technical Textiles). With this, the programme brought the support of Rs. 200 crore for technical textile industry.

Also, in the conference, there were questions from delegates side, that the government should put necessary measures to make use of more technical textile products in different industries. To this, the minister said that, the industry may face a hard time to grow in an atmosphere of lot of control.

She emphasized mainly on R&D concerns but simultaneously, she also requested the Chinese delegates to make investments in India.

The Indian textile industry is bearing mixed consequences of this commotion. On one side, where it is getting immense support from the government, on the other hand, it is also enduring the loss of its manufacturing capacity.

According to the minister, with making some fruitful suggestions to the government, technical textile can bring revolutionary benefits in the industry. We all are looking forward for some immense changes.
