Air India and IRCTC deal: Unconfirmed Rajdhani passengers will have Air India as a backup

Everyone knows how comfortable Rajdhani Express is and why it is called the queen of all trains. Another thing everyone knows is that how difficult it is to book its tickets as one desires. But, now instead of getting disappointed for not getting a ticket in Rajdhani Express, you can actually rejoice. Reason being the simple passenger escalation the government will now provide you as if not Rajdhani then the same ticket and some marginally extra price will get you a ticket in Air India and you can reach your destination safely and faster. Isn’t that great? We think it is.

It is all after a pact that is in line to be signed between Air India and IRCTC told Ashwani Lohani, Air India’s chief to the media.

Any passenger with an unconfirmed ticket will be in line to get a seat in the same route Air India flight, depending on the class of the tickets initially paid for. For example the 1st class AC passengers will have to pay no extra cost, before boarding their respective flight. But the other less costly ticket bearers will have to pay the marginal difference to get onto the replacement medium of travel, Air India in this case.

The tickets for both will be provided by IRCTC only. The fact that this agreement will benefit Air India to recover its losses cannot be overlooked. In fact, this government airline won’t mind extending its passenger seats if this deal works out well.
