Envision that the world through the almighty’s will has the gift of a ‘dream product’ in order to feed and immunize every new born on our planet. Along with this do not forget to feel thankful that females everywhere are blessed to have it without having to think much. As for a woman, she knows how she receives her strength which comes from a sense of completeness these natural gifts provide. Other benefits like prevention of cancer, feminine confidence, are just complimentary gifts for a female which follow. Coming and standing strong to the point of realization of how breastfeeding through women is the purest form of nurturing is what every country should strive to achieve. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje with all her maternal and feminine instincts has always stayed at forefront for concerns like these where the citizens of Rajasthan are to be made aware of how the concept of breastfeeding is natural and vital for new born babies. Under her conduction, the Health Department of Rajasthan lunched a new flagship programme called MAA – Mother’s Absolute Affection.

As the name suggests, this programme will work empower every mother’s absolute levels of affection for her child, through spreading adequate awareness among the masses of the state. MAA scheme will work by having focused attention to get a maximum reach of people and make them understand how breastfeeding is a mandatory miracle for all the infants of the state.

Health Minister Rajendra Rathore at the launch event of this new flagship scheme, shared some important benefits of breastfeeding along with its lifelong viability. He said, Breastfeeding creates a special bond between the mother and baby.” We can see how as a health minister, Rathore has the responsibility to advocate everything that is good about breastfeeding and how it is also the foremost right of a new born baby.

The Health Department of the state has had unfortunate records of how diseases like pneumonia and diarrhea have become the main causes for deaths of infants. For a new born baby, excess levels of immunization are required to keep him/her safe from infectious air in the atmosphere. This absolute level of immune and resistance power can then only be received through mother’s milk. That is why it is important for every mother to follow appropriate breastfeeding practice and if females in both rural and urban areas are not educated with this new responsibility of theirs as novel mothers then through MAA Scheme, Rajasthan will get the loop holes fixed. According to medical researchers, effective breastfeeding practices can reduce infant death rate by a total of 26% (15% in diarrhea and 11% in pneumonia).

The added benefit through it all would be successful reduction in rates of malnutrition, mainly because breast milk has the highest level of nutrition for babies.

Dr V K Mathur, who is a Family Welfare Director, said

“Under MAA, we will rope in auxiliary nurse midwives (ANM), accredited social health activists (ASHA) workers and anganwadi workers to promote breastfeeding.  It was found that around 80% infants take birth in health institutions (hospitals, community health centres) but only 38.8% mothers breastfeed their infants in the first hour of their birth. It is a cause of concern. We will encourage mothers to breastfeed babies within the first hour of their birth.”

Dr Mathur further added that, “Only around 46% mothers exclusively breastfeed their infants up to the age of six months. It is seen that soon after the birth of the baby, relatives offer honey to infants besides some other substances, which is not a good practice and it should be stopped.”

All in all the main components of MAA the new flagship programme by Vasundhara Raje government, are generation of community awareness, amplification of interpersonal communication by ASHAs, skillful support for breastfeeding at all baby delivery places which lie in public health facilities, supervision at all levels and lastly, recognition through awards.
