Rajasthan is the largest State in the Country with 10% of India’s geographical area, 5% of its population. State has diverse agro-climatic conditions that permit growing of large variety of crops. It has prominent position in the country in terms of agri-production as second largest producer of oil seeds and coarse cereals, fourth largest producer of pulses, sixth largest producer of food grains, fourth largest producer of spices.

The state has vast scope for enhancement of agricultural production and its subsequent processing. In spite of efforts made by the government agencies and universities there has been limited growth in this sector. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s focus has been to explore possibilities for introducing the technologies available globally and in other states for farmers of Rajasthan so that they may have adequate exposure to the limitless possibilities that can be opened up and change can be brought about in their lives. The socio-economic conditions of the farmers do not enable them to reach to the advances available globally, but the Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje’s vision is to showcase the best-case practices for them in the state itself and effectively introduce the technological change necessary for their growth.

Government of Rajasthan is organizing a mega Agri event  ‘Global Rajasthan Agri-tech Meet- 2016’ (GRAM) in the State with Vasundhara Raje’s vision to benefit the farmers by helping them increase their farm productivity and providing knowledge of latest scientific and technical knowhow. The aim is to also provide a platform for showcasing the technologies of post harvest processing and value addition at farm and entrepreneur level. The post harvest processing helps in averting the gluts and distress selling situations, which the farmers of Rajasthan often face, and thus creates a sink to service the market surplus. The event shall thus also cater to the entrepreneurs who are interested in the processing of agri-produce. It also aims to provide information regarding alternative markets for getting best price of their produce and dissemination of national / international competitive prices to the farmers.
