Alwar Cops forms Nirbhaya Force to Fight Crime Against Women

On 19th May, Friday, “Anti-Romeo Squads” – the much talked-about promise in the party’s poll swung into action. Cops of Alwar launched a ‘Nirbhaya Force’ on the lines of Anti-Romeo squad in Uttar Pradesh. Cops will be fanned out to check markets, malls, schools, colleges, coaching centres and other destinations to examine incidents of eve teasing. In non uniform clothing the force will investigate youth generation who passes time in groups at various street corners and roadside stalls.

At the collectorate, Mr. Rajan Vishal, the district collector, and Mr. Rahul Prakash, the SP, flagged off the force. In the morning and day time, six teams of Nirbhaya Force will move around, when schools and colleges will get over, while in the evening time horde of women will stay mobile at crowded market places including malls, bus and tempo spots to check the menace. The women members of the force will observe the crowd, while riding on a scooty. They will be in touch with the sigma and control room and harassment complaints will be attended promptly. “The force will keep a check of sexual harassment cases” said, the District Collector. Also, “The force, for now has been launched in the city areas as more cases of sexual harassment are reported here” said, SP Rahul Prakash. He also added that “It is an all-women force so that women can approach these cops without any hesitation.”

“Police and administrative authorities have been asked to check ruffians keenly” said, DGP Javeed Ahmed.

“The idea is not only to enhance the security of women but to create an atmosphere where people, particularly women and girls, feel more safe and secured” told A Satish Ganesh, the IG.
