Congress hits out at Amitabh Bachchan hosting PM’s anniversary event & gets backfired

Amitabh Bachchan hosting PM's anniversary event

There were reports that the ‘Shenshah’ of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan would host the celebrating event of Modi government’s successful competition of two years in the centre. The event is scheduled at the iconic India Gate. As soon as this news came out, Congress started pouring in questions pointing the centre’s decision and the involvement of Big B in government after his name appeared in the Panama Papers.

Congress hits out at Amitabh Bachchan hosting PM’s anniversary event. Congress alleged that this step of the central government and Amitabh Bachchan might land him in troubles or can give a wrong signs to the Multi Agency Group (MAG) probing Panama paper leaks.

Congress’s communication department head Randeep Surjewala said, “Everyone in India loves Amitabh Bachchan. We all love him as an elder and as an artist… We want to place this question before Prime Minister Narendra Modi….would it be fair, would it not send a message to all investigating agencies… when a person accused of having links with companies abroad is seen…hosting or organising and the PM, under that person’s leadership, attending a programme to celebrate two years of his government.”

While addressing a press conference, on Wednesday he said, “We have no objection to Amitabh Bachchan hosting the NDA programme, but what signal will it send to investigation agencies.”

He added, “But there is one thing to keep in mind. When there is an investigation into an individual for black money, and the PM takes part in a programme hosted by that individual, what sort of a message does it send to the investigation agencies? There is a need to keep this in mind.”

However, when the news reached Amitabh Bachchan, he stepped forward to clarify the misunderstanding and smashing all the congress questions he said that its not him who would host the show but actor R Madhvan. He would only host a segment of the event, ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ (a scheme of the centre government) of which he is the brand ambassador.

In his statement he said, “I don’t think they (Congress) are aware that I am not hosting the event. I have been invited as the brand ambassador of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign. It is up to the government to decide whether to have me there or not.” He also emphasised that he is also the brand ambassador for United Nations Gil Child program.
