ASEAN also known as the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations wants India to take and play the leadership role in improving the commerce, connectivity and the security in the region.

At the academic session on the second day of the two-day Delhi dialogue, all the speakers from the ASEAN nations expressed a common viewpoint to handover India with the leadership role.

The dialogue is organized by the MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS in collaboration with the OBSERVER RESEARCH FOUNDATION (ORF) and the FEDERATION OF INDIAN CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (FICCI).

The academic sessions were organized by ORF and the business sessions were organized by the FICCI.

This year the theme of the dialogue is based on “ASEAN – INDIA relations – charting the course for the next 25 years”. This dialogue is been held annually since 2009. Its main aim is to discuss the social, political and economic engagement between ASEAN and India.

It is also decided that India will assist the ASEAN mechanisms to help maintain the status quo and stability in the region. They are also looking forward towards India for initiatives and new ideas to improve the economic and political relations.

Relentless efforts will also be taken by the nations to combat terrorism, religious extremism, and the ISIS. Both ASEAN and Indian will work together to regulate these menaces.

President of Zaman University, Combodia hoped that the next 25 years will bring better connectivity, both physical and digital between India and ASEAN. Cooperation in nuclear energy and cyber security will also be seen.

We hope that in future India will play its leadership role prominently and will bring out the best from it. This partnership will help in building a better world and India will combat the menaces like terrorism and other evil practices.
