Chief Minister of Rajasthan Smt. Vasundhara Raje recently inaugurated the newly renovated Burn unit of Sawai Man Singh Hospital and the new Maternal & Child Ward in the Women’s hospital at Jaipur where she spoke at length about the health reforms in Rajasthan. Read to know more.

We recently told you about the Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana and the Aarogya Rajasthan scheme launched by the Rajasthan Government after the present Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje came into power. The Rajasthan government has decided to provide health insurance to 70 million residents of the state, after outsourcing primary health centres and specialized diagnostic services to private sector players on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode in a bid to improve health care delivery in the State as well as fill the gaps in ever-expanding patient-doctor ratios. BSBY is provided under the aegis of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s ambitious Bhamashah scheme, through which the state is transferring all cash and cashless benefits of public schemes directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries. When it comes to providing better health services and innovation, Raje has not just stopped at that.

Vasundhara Raje recently inaugurated the newly renovated Burn unit of Sawai Man Singh Hospital and the new Maternal & Child Ward in the Women’s hospital at Jaipur where she spoke at length about the health transformations in Rajasthan. While she showed her happiness on adding another ward in the hospital, she noted that with 500 beds, it also became the largest Woman hospital in Rajasthan. The hospital is also host to Asia’s second milk bank. After expressing her delight with the success of the Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana, that provides coverage of Rs. 30,000 for general illnesses and Rs. 3 lakh for serious ailments, covering more than 1700 ailments, she went on to share the recent initiatives taken to improve the health indices of the State.

In order to reduce the maternal and infant mortality, the duration of free services being provided under the Janani Shishu Suraksha scheme has been extended to 1 year from 1 month and is being implemented to promote institutional deliveries so that skilled attendance at birth is available and women and new born can be saved from pregnancy related deaths. The ‘Kushal Mangal’ karyakram is being run in the state to make special provisions for High Risk Pregnancies. Also currently 600 Express Ambulances run in the State and several activities are being undertaken to ensure prohibition of gender probe. Parents of girl child get encouragement amount on the birth of a girl child worth rupees 7300.

Vasundhara Raje went on to thank donor Dati Maharaj ji of Shani Dham Trust for contributing in the renovation works of the new Burn unit in SMS hospital. She appealed other religious and non-religious organizations to come forward and lend a hand to the government for such virtuous work for development of Rajasthan. She said, “ There is no greater dharma than the dharma of saving lives.” Raje noted how quality heath services being provided at affordable rates in Rajasthan are not just a blessing for the people of the State, but also for the people who travel all the way from neighboring states, boosting the Medical tourism sector. Brain Angioplasty, a surgery confined to the big cities, is happening in Rajasthan, along with several complicated transplants. To ensure health security for all children, the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karykram has been launched in which health trainings are being provided to children under 18 years of age. 17 crore patients and counting have been benefitted by the CM free medicine scheme. To address the problem of shortage of doctors in the State, two new medical colleges have been started and six more will be added soon.

With the various initiatives and schemes implemented by the Rajasthan Government, a poised rise in the health index of the people in the State can be seen. The Government along with public-private partnership (PPP) is working on every aspect to provide proper healthcare delivery to improve health conditions of women and child, and bettering the nutrition status in the State. Rajasthan Government is running various schemes with the support of latest technology. Recently, the Government has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Trust and ‘Antara’ Foundation for Akshada Programme’ to improve the health status of women and children.

It is encouraging to note that CM herself sends wishes and greetings to every family on birth of a gild child in Rajasthan. The remarkable combination of Aarogya Rajasthan – an initiative in the direction of preventive health care, Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana – an initiative provide healthcare to the affected and CM’s vision of making Woman the head of the family under the Bhamashah Scheme – one can say that ‘Healthy in Rajasthan’ could soon become a certainty.
