Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi, better known as Indra Nooyi is an Indian American business executive. Indra Nooyi was born on 28 October 1955 in Madras, Tamil Nadu. She got to fame in 2006 when she took over the position of Chief Executive Officer of PepsiCo. PepsiCo is the second largest food and beverage business in the world by net revenue. In 1994, Indra Nooyi accepted the position of senior vice president of corporate strategy and development with PepsiCo. Due to her impressive work with the company, Nooyi was promoted to chief financial officer in 2000 and the president in 2001. Year 2006, PepsiCo made Indra Nooyi its CEO. It’s interesting to know that in 44-year history of PepsiCo, she is the fifth CEO.

Indra Nooyi was was listed among Time’s 100 Most Influential People in The World in 2007 and 2008. Forbes named her the #3 most powerful woman in 2008 and ranked #13 by Forbes in 2014. Fortune ranked her the #1 most powerful woman in business in 2009 and 2010. On 7 October 2010 Fortune magazine ranked her the 6th most powerful woman in the world. In Fortune’s Most Powerful Women List of September 15, 2015, Nooyi ranked 2nd.

In 2007, she was honored with the Padma Bhushan by the President of India. She has also been named 2009 CEO of the Year by Global Supply Chain Leaders Group.
