Today is the 70th birthday of famous Bollywood actress Jaya Bahaduri Bachchan. She is one of the most celebrated actors of her times. She is wife of Bollywood’s megastar Amitabh Bachchan. She was last seen in the Bengali film Sunglass in year 2013. But, from long, she has not been working in movies. Currently, she is Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha from the Samajwadi Party. She was born on 9 April 1948 in Jabalpur in a Bengali Hindu family. Jaya has also been awarded Padma Shri in 1992.
Talking about her family life, she married her co-star Amitabh Bachchan on 3 June 1973. They fell in love on the set of film Ek Nazar. The couple has two children Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan. Both the kids of Amitabh-Jaya are happily married and settled in their lives.
Her filmy career had begun at the tender age of 15 with a supporting role in Satyajit Ray’s Bengali film, Mahanagar. She is alumna of FTII, Pune. She had been noted for her work in Uphaar, Koshish and Kora Kagaz. She had also guven hits with husband Amitabh Bachchan such as Zanjeer, Abhimaan, Chupke Chupke, Mili, Silsila, Sholay and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
