Good News for all: The Income Tax department has extended the deadline for filing income tax return. While most of you may have already filed your returns, there may be a fraction of late-risers amongst some of you.

The deadline for filing income tax return has been extended to August 5. Here are the top reasons of deadline extension. Read below:

Linking PAN and Aadhar Card

Ever since the government has issued a nation-wide notice to link Aadhar with PAN for filing ITR, the commoners have experienced multiple problems.

While some complain that their Aadhar and PAN don’t match, others say that the system is not responding to their request.

The suggested way to ensure a quick match of Aadhar and PAN is to get both the documents updated. However, this may prove to be a time-consuming activity, thereby posing as a laggard for the income tax filers.

As per government records, only 25 percent of PAN cardholders have completed the process as of 17 July.

Bottlenecks for filing IT Return in time

Tax payers having an income of above Rs 5 lakh must temporarily file income tax return online. Persons falling under this bracket and not having an Aadhar card got in a fix. They rushed to the Aadhar offices which were found to be highly congested in the month of June and July.

People also complained about dysfunctional Aadhar machines. GPRS connectivity was low at many times, which had posed as a major drawback for many tax filers.

Manipulation by many agents

A few agents took foul advantage of the urgency which had gripped many citizens. Many agents charged an extra fees and surplus service tax from the desperate tax filers.
