Brett Lee’s Unindian the new favorite of censor board, but there’s a unique catch in this story

unIndian-first-look

Brett Lee the former Australian fast bowler is currently in India and in news for his upcoming rom-com called UNINDIAN. This cricketer turned actor has always shown his adoration for our country India. Keeping aside the fact that all Indian girls have been crushing on him since don’t know when, Brett Lee has successfully maintained cordial relations with India for a long time now. Remember he was featured in a song with Asha Bhosle in 2006? Wasn’t that extremely adorable to see him grooving with our favorite Asha Tai?

The happy-go lucky relation which we share with this cute and charming cricketer can now also be seen by this current example where Brett Lee is a part of a movie with Indian co-stars mostly. With him having all hero-like attributes and his team from Unindia having great love for him, then why is the censor board after his upcoming film?

Reports from Bollywood say that the movie which is directed by Anupam Sharma has a 65 secs long love scene and the censor board has asked the filmmakers to cut it short to 26 secs of duration. Both Brett Lee and his lead actress Tannishtha Chatterjee who are the part of this concerned scene must have had some issues regarding its length being cut short. But the final stand Unindian filmmakers have taken is to agree with the censor board. And like every Bollywood flick has a twist in the tale, even this censorship story has a plot changing condition.

Though Unindian filmmakers have agreed with the censor board but they have put forward a condition. It says that the scene will be cut from 65 sec to 26 sec but in India the board will add a line during the scene suggesting that the content has been altered to make it appropriate for the Indian audiences to watch.

“I have been asked to cut a lovemaking scene to get a U/A certificate. I have agreed since I don’t want to hold my distributors to ransom. But since that’s not my vision, I have requested the CBFC to insert a line declaring that the scene has been modified for the Indian audience.” said one o the filmmakers.

Any cuts in the movie hamper the concept and the larger conceptualization which comes from the director’s end. So to comply with any censor board requirements it requires great deal of thought.

The same filmmaker added to his statement that,

“My advisers told me it is a rather unusual request, but I think it is fair that the audience is informed that is not how I directed the scene and have been forced to cut it. Let’s see how it goes.”

We as Brett Lee fans would want that Unindian performs great in spite of all these obstacles. Brett Lee will be seen promoting his movie on various television shows, like The Kapil Sharma Show, Bhabhiji Ghar Pe Hain etc.
