CBSE is going to announce the fresh dates of Class X Mathematics and Class XII Economics Papers by the end of this week. After the papers got leaked on WhatsApp, the respective exams were canceled and a re-exam was announced by the education body. As per the reports, the Delhi Police have questioned 25 people, most of them are students, who had access to handwritten question papers.
The police are investigating and hoping that they will trace back the source of leaked papers that are believed to have appeared on WhatsApp messenger. CBSE had filed a complaint with Delhi Police that it received a fax on March 23 that mentioned a person from Rajinder Nagar in North Delhi who had leaked the papers.
After the filing of two cases from CBSE, a special investigation team led by senior officer RP Upadhyay has been formed. It’s being claimed that the accused also runs a coaching center. Reportedly, some snapshots of the handwritten paper were circulated through WhatsApp. However, since the messages on the platform are encrypted, the team is finding it difficult to trace the source.
Meanwhile, the education board, as well as, Union Education Minister Prakash Javadekar, has urged the students and their parents not to panic. The minister said that this could be the work of an organized gang and also assured that the ministry will not only take strict action but would also ensure a more secure mechanism to carry out the exams.
Although the issue pertains to Delhi, the paper was same for all CBSE students across India. Therefore, the re-exam would be conducted for all the students of the board irrespective of their city. Notably, this is not the first time that the papers have leaked.
Earlier in 2006, the police uncovered leaked CBSE question paper of Business Studies and later in 2011, three people were arrested for the leak of Class XII Science and Mathematics paper.
