Chandrayaan-2, India’s lunar mission to be launched by April 2018

Chandrayaan-2 is the India’s most ambitious space mission. It is the lunar mission in which India aims to place a rover on South pole of the Moon. ISRO may launch probably in April 2018. The information is confirmed by in-charge of the Department of Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh. In fact, Mr. Singh called it a one the most remarkable ISRO missions of 2018.

What Dr. Jitendra Singh share about the mission?
He shared that Chandrayaan-2 “may open up possibilities of future habitation of the moon”. He also added that there are possibilities for human outpost on the moon in the future. The success of this mission will be a great help to India.

What is Chandrayaan-2?
Chandrayaan-2 is India’s second lunar exploration mission after Chandrayaan-1. The mission costs around Rs. 800 crore. Putting an orbiter around the moon, from which a lander and a rover would detach and reach the lunar surface is the aim of Chandrayaan-2.

If due to unsuitable weather this mission is not launched in April then it can be launched by October said Dr. Sivan K, ISRO’s newly-appointed chairman. India has great hopes with this mission as only USA, Russia and China have been able to soft-land spacecraft on the lunar surface.
