Chhath Puja holds an important place amongst Hindu festivals in India. This festival is celebrated in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and some regions of Nepal. It is a four-day celebration where devotees worship Sun god and his wife Usha. Chhath is the third day of the four-day puja. This year, it falls on October 26.
As everyone knows, no celebration is complete without enjoying sweets. Similarly, there are certain sweets that should be made on Chhath puja. Thekuas are such sweets which are offered as bhog for the puja. If you still haven’t make thekuas then learn this recipe to make Thekuas.
Ingredients
250 gm wheat flour, 2 tbsp dry coconut (chopped), 50 gm sugar, 1 tbsp fennel seed, 3-4 whole green cardamom, 1/2 cup water, ghee to fry
How to make
Take a bowl and add wheat flour, dry coconut, fennel seeds and crushed cardamom in it. Now add 1 tbsp of ghee and mix all ingredients. Now, make sugar syrup by bringing water and sugar to a boil. Add this sugar syrup to the mixture and knead well. Keep the dough little wet. Now, grease your palms with ghee and take a spoonful of the mixture. Make a ball and flatten it by giving it the shape of a small disc. Make thekua in similar manner. Heat ghee in a pan and fry the discs till they are golden brown. Delicious thekuas are ready to eat.
