On the 45th birthday of the former captain of Indian cricket team, celebs and users expressed their unconditional love and admiration for Dada. Sourav Ganguly, fondly called ‘Dada’ was one of the most successful skippers in the history of India. The nation hails him for his leadership quality and ‘aggressive’ style of cricket.

The ‘Prince of Kolkata’ joined the cricket team when the ‘Men in Blue’ were struggling with match-fixing scandals and poor performance. The 45-year-old cricket made his Test debut against England at Lord’s in 1996. In his very first match, the left-handed batsman scored a brilliant century, leaving the British shell-shocked.

Ganguly led his team to the final match of the Knockout Tournament in 2000. In 2002, Team India won the Champions Trophy– a massive victory for the overcharged team. Though Indians lost the final to the ‘Kiwi’, the world hailed their newfound leadership skills. The following year, the Indians ended up as the runner-up in 2003 one-day international World Cup. In short, Ganguly enjoyed his term as a successful captain.

On this occasion, wishes started pouring for Dada from all the four corners of the world. The social media buzzed with greetings and good wishes.

The most heart-touching message came from his former opening partner Virender Sehwag. Referring to legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s movie, Sehwag said that while his movie showed the rise of the ‘god of cricket’, a movie on Ganguly will show the rising of India in international cricket. Sehwag made a tall claim on Twitter regarding this.

Other than Sehwag, other members of the Indian cricket team sent their good wishes to Sehwag.

  • Mohammad Kaif

  • Sachin Tendulkar

  • Harbhajan Singh

  • Boria Majumdar
