Our beloved ‘Dangal’ girl, Zaira Wasim, took the entire nation by surprise by posting an apology letter for alleged ‘fans’ that were hurt by her ‘actions’. Popularly known as ‘young Geeta’, this 16-year old gave a sensational performance with her co-star Suhani (who played the younger sibling Babita). We loved Aamir and Sakshi’s stellar performances, but the entire nation adored these two little beauties who breathed life into the role of underweight wrestlers. But then the question arises, why is young Zaira apologetic despite winning the hearts and blessings of fans all over the world?
In the ‘Open letter/apology’ posted by young Zaira on her Instagram account, the incredibly talented young actress pours her heart out…
We’re not sure of what or who exactly is she referring to, but news followers link this apology to her latest meeting with J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti. While others are guessing that she has been repeatedly harassed by Kashmiri extremists for projecting herself as a role model for Kashmiri students. A few social media users have also linked this episode to the actress being subjected to trolls, memes and social pressure online.
While the world may not know the exact reason behind her apology, interestingly, it has triggered a mixed reaction from the fans, critics and celebrities nationwide.
Recently, the real Geeta Phogat came to Zaira’s rescue. The CWG medallist issued a public statement in Zaira’s favour saying,
“Zaira has portrayed me well in the movie. She shouldn’t apologise, rather feel proud of her work”.
Even ex-CM Omar Abdullah expressed his anguish in this matter,
A 16 year old shouldn’t be forced to apologise & that too allegedly for meeting @MehboobaMufti. What are we coming to!!!!! https://t.co/MFz3ZKykV1

Abdullah issued a statement on behalf of the party. He requested the natives to stop politicising this issue.
Meanwhile, the Twitteratis expressed their anguish on this issue.

It is extremely shameful if @zairawasim was bullied by some so called rabid custodians of culture. They should be dealt with sternly.

Can any Kashmiri tell me why this young girl is being made to apologise?Extremists pressure?Istand with @zairawasim and so should everyone.

Many celebrities have expressed their distress regarding Kashmiri children being subjected to social harassment by terrorist elements. Whenever a person tries to outshine others with their performance, they’re being pressurised by militants to quit.
While the entire world was busy debating over #DangalVsFanatics, a jittery Zaira clarified her stand on Facebook yet again.
We don’t know if the was deliberately posted or that the young actor was forced to put an apology letter, but this raises serious concerns regarding the fate of children in J&K. Why did Zaira put up the letter? Why did she need to clarify her acting skills? So what if people regard her as the role model? Is it wrong for a person to meet the CM of their state?
Can’t a 16-year old just enjoy the sweet fruits of her success in peace? There are so many questions that need to be answered. Will the so-called secularists and political parties stop wrecking hoax in the name of ‘women empowerment’ and ‘peace’ now?
