Inspirational Posters made on Bollywood Blockbuster Deewar make PM Narendra Modi Smile…

“Aaj mere paas building hai, property hai, bank balance hai, bungla hai, gaadi hai… kya hai, kya hai tumhare paas?

Mere Paas Maan Hai…”

The iconic dialogues of Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan’s 1975-Bollywood Blockbuster ‘Deewar’ will be etched in our memories forever. Over the years we’ve seen stand-up comedians, artists and public use Deewar dialogues for memes, comic posters and jokes. One thing we could have never imagined was their use in inspirational campaigns.

Recently, some innovative ‘Deewar’ posters shared by PM Narendra Modi attracted nation’s interest. The PM couldn’t resist from smiling after watching an inspirational poster that uses Deewar dialogues to generate awareness on PM’s Swachh Bharat mission.

PM’s dream project– Swachh Bharat was launched by the centre in 2014, with the intent to achieve maximum ODF (open defecation free) districts by 2019. In time, people forgot about it, but a few responsible ones actively participated to promote this mission worldwide.

However, Nainital Municipal Corporation found a funny way to keep people interested in this mission. Here’s how they used Bollywood dialogues to attract movie bugs!

  1. When ‘Maa’ sets her Priorities Straight!

Nirupa Roy—the ‘most fought over Maa in Bollywood’ no longer wants riches, gold, bungalows or even sons. While the mother in movie backed her honest son, modern-day ‘Maa’ wants a toilet in her house. She sides with the son who doesn’t openly defecate in the fields.

  1. When Gabbar Singh is Curious regarding Penalty on Open Defecation!
Sholay’s Gabbar is no longer curious about his net worth! He's more concerned about the penalty on open defecation.

The good thing is, this is not the first time that a community or an individual used Bollywood movies for promoting government scheme. Last year, the Howrah Division of Eastern Railways prepared innovative ‘Sholay’ movie posters urging commuters to keep their environment clean.

Sholay’s Gabbar was always curious about his net worth! However, the Gabbar in NMC poster asks viewers about penalty on public defecation. Should you want to relieve yourself by the roadsides, you ought to think twice.

Moved by the creative campaigning for Swachh Bharat, the PM gave thumbs up to NMC’s move on Twitter.

We don’t know if the people actually followed what was taught in the poster, but it surely was a funny way to attract public!
