Is demonetisation likely to sweeten 2017?

PM Narendra Modi is all geared up to address the nation on the 31st, the last day of 2016. The speech will encompass measures like tax base expansion and subsequently creation of a cleaner economy. This will hamper creation of black money.

It is anticipated that a detailed roadmap ahead of the mega cash clean-up will be dictated, as the 50 day deadline to deposit the scrapped notes of Rs.500 and Rs.1000 ends on Friday.

While a trail of guesses is being made, there is still ambiguity about what will Narendra Modi spell out. Whether it is another shock (this time although, in the form of a ceremonious announcement), or will a relaxing relief will be provided to all those all who are still living their lives in dismay and worry.

An event will also be organized on Friday by the IT ministry. The Prime minister is likely to announce the winners of  Lucky Grahak Yojana, a scheme which has been launched by the government to encourage all the civilians to contribute towards a cashless economy. The PM may also declare Tihar Jail as a digitally-enabled premises.

“The PM is likely to focus on the need to curb the currency-driven ‘parallel economy’,” said a senior BJP functionary.
While Modi will address the nation, the ruling party fielded a galaxy of ministers including Venkaiah Naidu, Ravishankar Prasad and Piyush Goyal, who came out with facts and figures to counter the opposition’s allegations.

Next year, there are five state elections which are scheduled for the next year. If rumours are to be believed, demonetisation is likely to affect the election rallies and other poll nuances in a comprehensive manner.

“The PM is likely to focus on the need to curb the currency-driven ‘parallel economy’,” said a senior BJP functionary.

Well, as citizens, we only hope our Hon’ble Prime Minister comes out with a scheme for all the black-money hoarders, and an astounding final relief for all those who have come clean.
