The bronze medalist of India badminton player PV Sindhu storms to the semifinals of Denmark Open, after defeating Chinese player Wang Yihan in straight games at the $650000 Super Series premier event. The match lasted for 34 minutes at the Odense Sports Park. She will now takes on to the world champion from England Carolina Martin.
PV Sindhu holding 13th rank in badminton World Ranking has to face defeat in past three matches played against Yihan, while in this match has recorded a dominating 21-18, 21-19 win over the 6th ranked player, in women’s single match.
Sindhu now has to play against Carolina Martin, who has defeated three times in the past meetings. It’s only in 2011 Maldives International Challenge that Sindhu was able to defeat World No.2 Spaniard.
The Indian player has shown some brilliant gaming skills in the match played on Saturday 17th October, where she took an early lead of 3-0 and restricted Yihan to score anything near to her in the first game. The performance continued for second match as well, Sindhu gained massive lead of 7-1 and blazed to 19-15 and scoring two more points to end the competition in her favor.
PV Sindu is the first Indian women to win a medal in singles event at world championship, which she gained in 2013. It was only this that she has been honored with India’s fourth civilian honor of Padma Shri. The player holds 3rd rank in Badminton World Federation Junior ranking.
