Desi Hoppers Register Historic Win!

They belong to distinct cultures and backgrounds but all were united under one roof to outplay their style and in doing so they’ve certainly made history. Desi hoppers, an all boys dance group has achieved the first position at the World of Dance Competition in Los Angeles. Their determination was spectacular and for them this is the initiation of their new journey that is going to be one with many hurdles.

The boys troupe of seven gave an outstanding performance and have made a zillion fans. A proud moment for Indians to make it on this prestigious platform. The wave of this talented troupe played mostly on Indian Classical dance form and Bollywood style depicting the Indian chords quite well. The troupe of seven lead by Shantanu Maheshwari, Macedon D’mello and Nimit Kotian grabbed the trophy with the prize money of $5000 at Los Angeles Convention Centre on Sunday evening.

Shantanu, who belongs from Kolkata, said, “It is a new beginning from here. I feel one should follow someone, but should not lose out their own essence.” Macedon added in an exuberant tone, “The journey starts now.” Well, they are still in a dilemma over how to use the prize money as they’ve recently got slice-of-life is one big jubilant affair.

Shantanu and Macedon, who are a part of dance based show on channel V ”Dil Dosti Dance”, while Nimit has choreographed for the show, from among the seven. The team met at HR College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai and became a dancing sensation by recognizing the passion for dance in each other. Nimit is the ace star of krumping and popping and executes this style with his neat yet, intense moves.

As they say, the ladder of success is imbibed by hurdles, and so they faced ample of this stigma. However, they were mentored by crackerjacks Jaja Vankova, a choreographer from the Czech Republic, and ace choreographer Terence Lewis. Its a long ride before these boys can outshine the legends of dance, but no journey is too small and with the talent they possess we feel they’ll be making waves again!
