More Voters Gravitate towards Rajasthan BJP, following CM Raje’s Call for Development…

Confident of its victory, Rajasthan BJP leaders have zealously started campaigning for the upcoming Dholpur by-polls starting last week. While Rajasthan Congress has nothing on its portfolio other than calling PM Modi’s demonetization a multi-million scam or accusing BJP leaders on poor implementation of government policies, the BJP high-command is positive that their call for development will save the day. It’s quite surprising that being the largest political party of India, Congress was in power for nearly a decade. Even then, they haven’t caused any major developments in Rajasthan in last few years. Now, they’re targeting BJP on the same grounds, regardless of the fact that Raje is in power since just 3 years.

Dholpur constituency comprises of approximately 1 lakh 90 thousand voters, out of which 28,000 are Kushwahas, 22,000 are Brahmins whereas 19,000 voters are Muslim. Rest 1 lakh 21 thousand votes are distributed among other 33 communities in Rajasthan. With budget 2017, Rajasthan government attempted to share a pie with all communities and groups. Moreover, Raje’s budget 2017 laid down provisions for a 100-crore district hospital, one-stop crises centre for women 24-hours electricity for all areas, 32-kilometre-long road connecting Dholpur to Rajakheda and the ambitious Dholpur lift Scheme for fluoride-free irrigation and drinking water supply in 180 villages (a scheme, which was pending since last 50 years).

Including all key sectors of development in their budget this year has strengthened BJP’s stronghold in Dholpur. BJP’s candidate Ms. Shobharani is a popular face that has a solid reputation among the Kushwahas there. Rajasthan BJP’s face CM Vasundhara Raje and her son MP Dushyant Singh have ancestral ties with the constituency, which is an added advantage. Therefore, BJP is confident that they can easily charm the masses with their reformatory schemes and actions.

To ascertain their victory, they’ve already appointed Urban and transport minister Yunus Khan and minister of state Abdul Saageer to initiate their election campaign in Dholpur. Contrary to this, the Congress is pining on its Muslim voter bank, like always. On one hand while the BJP activists are vigorously promoting the party, the Congress workers are in a state of jeopardy.

The reason is that Congress high command has projected ex-MP Banwari Lal in Dholpur, who is not a well-known performer among local communities. The party workers who were expecting a young and dynamic leader are confused as to how a veteran Congress leader will cause ‘ground-breaking development’ in Dholpur, as promised by the party high command.

Thirdly, since BJP is the ruling power at both the centre and the state, the people of Dholpur want the candidate of ruling party to win the elections. It seems a more practical option, considering the current demand of the public.  In the light of the current events, it isn’t surprising that Congress is fighting a losing battle!
