Dipa Karmakar wins Gold at World Challenge Cup, Twitterati congratulates her

In the Mersin World Challenge Cup, ace gymnast Dipa Karmakar took the women’s vault gold medal with an average score of 14.150. She missed the Rio Olympics bronze medal by a whisker and finished at the fourth place. This 24–year old gymnast returned after two years long break. She underwent surgery for knee injury. Tripura star also topped the vault qualification with 13.4 points. To secure the top position in the event, she improved her performance by a few notches. She also qualified for the balance beam finals with 11.85.

Dipa had suffered Anetrior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury after Rio Olympics which was undoubtedly career-threatening. There were possibilities that she might not play again but she made a strong comeback. She has been included in the 10-member Indian gymnastics team for the upcoming Asian Games.
