The visionary, academician and statesman.

Teachers’ day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Late Shri Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan every year. The 5th of September every year serves as a day of appreciation and respect for teachers across the country, a day we honour the most important guiding factors in our society. His work in the field of religion, morality and especially the fundamentals of the Advaita Vedanta and hinduism are exemplary and renowned.

Shri Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is hailed as India’s most illustrious scholars and academician, responsible for bridging the gap between east and west in terms of Indian culture and philosophy. A brilliant student, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who served as Spalding Professor of Eastern Religion and Ethics at University of Oxford from 1936 to 1952, came from a simple Telgu family with meagre means. An inspiration to Millions of Indians, he was revered among students and it was due to their wish to hold celebrations on his birthday that led to celebration of the Indian Teachers’ Day, for Radhakrishnan said, “Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if 5th September is observed as Teachers’ Day.”

His philosophy and ideology are world renowned and offer a chance to reflect on our life choices and the importance of education. We bring to you 10 inspiring quotes by the esteemed Statesman, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan:

  1. “When we think we know , we cease to learn.”
