A union minister’s comments on the horrifying murder of a woman by her live-in partner in Delhi have sparked outrage. Union Minister Kaushal Kishore’s remarks blaming “educated girls” who leave their parents for live-in relationships have been sharply criticised by Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi, who has demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi sack him.

Mr Kishor, who believes that live-in relationships lead to crime, stated, “These incidents are happening with all those girls who are well educated and believe they are very frank and have the ability to make decisions about their future.”

“Why do they have live-in relationships? If they are required to do so, live-in relationships should be properly registered. If your parents are unwilling to publicly support such relationships, you should get married and then live together,” he told “News18.” “when referring to the murder of Shradha Walkar

“The girls should consider why they are doing so. Because both the father and mother had refused the relationship, educated girls are responsible. Educated women should avoid such relationships “He continued.

Priyanka Chaturvedi was enraged by his remarks.

“I’m surprised he didn’t say girls are to blame for being born in this country. The shameless, heartless, and cruel blame-the-woman-for-all-problems mentality persists “Sena MP tweeted about it.

“If @PMOIndia truly believes what he says about women, Shakti, he must immediately fire this Union Minister. We, the women, have had enough of carrying the weight of patriarchal garbage in society “she added in a subsequent tweet

After a domestic dispute, Aftab Poonawala murdered his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar. He then chopped the body and stored the pieces in a 300-litre fridge at their Mehrauli home in South Delhi for nearly three weeks.

He later disposed of the pieces in various parts of the capital. Walker’s father was opposed to the interfaith marriage.
