Ek Do Teen Ft Jacqueline Fernandez: Bollywood is on a spree of ruining Classics

ek-do-teen

Much like many renditions of classic Hindi songs, a revamped version of Madhuri Dixit’s Ek Do Teen featuring Jacqueline Fernandez got released on YouTube today. The newly unveiled item number is from the film Baaghi 2 starring Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani. It goes without saying that Bollywood rarely puts forth quality cinema and much like the movies, the quality of songs are also degrading with time.

Not only the newer version loses the essence of the lyrics but also indicates lack of creativity and originality in the industry. The original song had Madhuri grooving to the song while explaining that she’s waiting for her man. Also, when you look at her dance, her expressions win your heart as much as her moves.

However, the visuals of the revamped version have no connection with the words and it’s rather limited to Jacqueline showing off her abs and apparently, she’s just lip-synching without even understanding the song. And since it’s the foreign beauty we are talking about, it’s useless to expect an expressive face from the “actress” (if you have heard her talking in Hindi!).

Day by day, filmmakers are promoting the copied versions of the old classics in the name of paying tribute to the legends without even working on the lyrics. Some don’t even care to change the steps or the music and plainly replay the original with certain changes to the music, which has also got digital by the way.

In fact, Bollywood has come to a stage when almost every film has a revamped version of an already existing song. Of course, there’s no issue with songs like Aashiq Banaya Aapne (Hate Story IV) but the iconic numbers like Ek Do Teen, Hamma Hamma, and others are simply not meant for a re-creation. With unnecessary remakes of films to such cringe-worthy renditions of songs, Bollywood is clearly going on the wrong track but we hope to wait for ‘Achhe Din’.
