English is not an influencing factor for FAME

Money . Power. Fame. Love

We, as Indians, have the habit of scaling success with above four factors. “Happiness” and “Self-satisfaction” are never the constraints we take into our mind while concluding whether someone is successful or not. Our daily monotonous life has certain pre-requisites and is running on the same track even in 21st century, where our urban lifestyle with a smartphone with latest social media apps and fluent English becomes the decisive factors in our success.

Four years back, the release of a movie “English-Vinglish” introduced us to our society where English is not our mother tongue, still, people make fun of someone who is not knowing it. People who communicate in Hindi are looked down and their communication skills are made fun of, irrespective of their talents. The main lead, Sashi still manages to fight through the odds and learns the language to earn a respectable place for herself in not only her family but also her society. In the entire movie, her character tried to reinforce the point that speaking a certain language doesn’t enhance your worth but it’s just a choice.

Jotted below are some examples who stand out from our society as they earned name, fame, money, and everything, even when they were unaware of this foreign language:

It also proves that English is not a necessary ingredient of success.

1. Kapil Sharma:

The name itself is sufficient and I am sure that there is hardly someone among us who don’t know him. He is an immensely talented comedian and his show is one of the most loved shows in the history of Indian television. He gained it all with his hard work and talent and is not ashamed of the fact that his ‘ENGLISH is bad’.

2. Diljit Dosanjh

This star actor from Punjab has recently made a successful debut in Bollywood with ‘Udta Punjab’. Not only his acting skills, but his music is also appreciated by people. Diljit happily acknowledged that he feels nervous when someone speaks to him in English. But that hasn’t been a hindrance to his success.

3. Kapil Dev

His talent was playing cricket and English was nowhere required for it. The captain of Indian Cricket Team who won World Cup in 1983 is not ashamed of the fact that he didn’t know English in the initial days of his career. He once said, “I was picked to play for India because of my cricketing credentials and not my excellence with a language which was not my mother tongue.”

3. Nawazuddin Siddiqui

He had struggled a lot before tasting the sweet fruit of name and fame from his movie “Gangs of Wasseypur”. In a recent interview, he said, “I don’t speak English at all.” So, you see, it’s all about hard work and talent.

4. Kangana Ranaut

She is one of the most successful actresses of recent times in Bollywood where her style and her statements both make headlines. Previously, she was bullied badly in the industry for not knowing English but her strong lead her. “I couldn’t even speak proper English”, she said when questioned about her early days.

We are not saying that you should not learn another language but it should not become a decisive factor into our mind to judge anyone’s personality and talent.
