Actor Akshay Kumar and comedian Kapil Sharma appear to be at odds, and the advertising of Sajid Nadiadwala’s next Kumar-starrer Bachchan Pandey, which is set for a Holi release on March 18th, appears to have gotten caught in the middle.
According to sources, it all began when Kumar appeared on Kapil Sharma’s show lately. The comedian spoke about an interview he had with a “renowned celebrity” in which Kumar inquired about his favourite way to consume mangoes. He was allegedly referring to an interview the actor had with Prime Minister Modi a few years ago. The ensuing squabble was caused by a tape of this discussion between the two.
Askhay Kumar then dares Kapil to name the star in the video, but the comedian immediately shifts the conversation to something else. According to the source, who prefers to remain anonymous, after the shoot, the actor requested that the channel not run this segment since it made fun of the Prime Minister’s office.
“Akshay laughed at all of Kapil’s jokes, but the dig on the PM interview seemed to belittle the decorum of such a high office.” As a result, Akshay requested that the question not be broadcast. The visitors have the right to make such a request because the show is not live. The station consented, but the sequence was soon released on the internet,” the person claims.
“It was a breach of trust on the side of someone in Kapil’s crew,” it continues, “and Akshay sought clarity before returning to the show.”
The shoot of the episode starring the actors of Bachchan Pandey, helmed by Farhad Samji and co-starring Kriti Sanon and Jacqueline Fernandez, has been postponed for the time being due to the lack of a reaction from Kapil. “I hope everything between Akshay and Kapil gets straightened out soon, or otherwise the film’s promotion will suffer, and fans of their banter will continue to miss the pleasure,” the source adds.
