Facebook revealed their new company logo to distinguish the silicon valley network from its core social network . The reason behind this move was to highlight the Facebook “brand” which runs a wide array of apps and services like messaging, photo-sharing, virtual reality and now is also developing wallets for digital currency.

The new logo of the company, which basically the company’s name in crisp letters can be seen on its applications like WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Oculus, Workplace, Portal and Calibra, according to chief marketing officer Antonio Lucio.

“Today, we’re updating our company branding to be clearer about the products that come from Facebook,” Lucio said.

“We’re introducing a new company logo and further distinguishing the Facebook company from the Facebook app, which will keep its own branding.”

The new corporate logo “is a way to better communicate our ownership structure to the people and businesses who use our services to connect,” Lucio added.

This move comes at a time when Facebook is under intense criticism from regulators across the world over how it manages content on its platforms. Some politicians and activists e even predicted a breakup of Silicon Valley giants.

Through the years of rising to fame as a social networking application around 15 years ago, Facebook has acquired Oculus virtual reality gear company plus Instagram image-based social network. It also introduced Portal smart screens along with a Workplace social network built for workplace productivity.

Its messaging applications WhatsApp and Messenger has crossed over billions of users.

Facebook established a Calibra as a digital wallet for use with the proposed cryptocurrency Libra, which currently is facing criticism from regulators and lawmakers from various countries around the world.
