A first in Rajasthan – Jhalawar’s community health centre (CHC) goes cashless

Ever wondered how could digitisation turnaround the picture of different segments in various pockets of India. From making social media a rage across the youth and the middle-aged population, digitisation has now touched the health segment. Rajasthan, in particular, has reaped multiple benefits of digitisation. A community health centre (CHC) in Rajasthan has now become fully cashless and Wi-Fi enabled.

The community health centre in Jhalawar is the first such Rajasthan clinic to offer cashless services, an official informed on Tuesday.

Located in the Chaumhela town, Jhalawar health centre installed a point of sale (PoS) machine which allowed patients to make speedy payments for services through debit or credit cards.

Owing to Demonetisation, CHC faced a lot of bottlenecks in receiving payments, as people were left with minimal cash notes. To mitigate this problem, CHC decided to install a PoS machine.

“We have information that Chaumhela CHC has gone cashless and Wi-Fi enabled. With this becoming a cashless health centre, it is the first such centre in Rajasthan to provide both the services,” said Ravi Prakash Sharma, the additional director of hospital administration.

Dr. Sajid Khan, Jhalawar’s chief medical and health officer said: “After demonetisation, CHC was installed with PoS machine to facilitate expeditious payment and to promote cash less payment.

“The Rajasthan Medical Relief Society account of Chaumhela CHC was linked with the PoS machine for allowing cashless transaction,” he said.

Additionally, 15 CHCs and 33 such primary health centres will be built in Jhalawar. These centres will be made cashless, he added.
