The online marketplace, Flipkart gave a sweet surprise to it’s 4-year old employee named Padmini, who is elated to receive the surprise.
The online retail accorded a lady named Padmini Pagadala as the CEO of the company. This is a part of the grand celebrations of the Big10 Celebrations which Flipkart revels in. Flipkart has completed it’s 10 years of operation and hence, these celebration for the company which started out in 2007 and has changed the face of Indian online retail sector.
Padmini has contributed substantially to the company for the last 4 years. The 34 year lady, Padmini had been working as an associate director at Flipkart. Pagadala had held a crucial position in the captive logistics unit Ekart. She has designed almost 17 fulfillment centres at the company.
The IT giant CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy spelled out: “It was a mutual learning experience today. Padmini who is a part of Ekart had a very different line of questions at the category review meetings we attended today.”
An industrial engineer from Georgia Institute of Technology, Padmini boasts of strong supply chain background. “I am CEO for a day and shadowing someone as humble as Kalyan has been a learning experience,” Pagadala beamed with pride and ecstasy.
As a part of the giant’s 10 year celebrations, Flipkart launched Big 10 celebrations in March. Flipkart has dedicated a specific month to a specific area of expertise. Flipkart started with sports in April. The company is an employer of close to 7,800 people. In addition to this human force, the company employs several others as delivery and fulfilment centre staff.
Flipkart is treading to different rhythms altogether. The giant raised $1.4 billion from Tencent, Microsoft. Moreover, after acquiring Myntra and Jabong, Flipkart recently acquired eBay India, thereby increasing it’s market value.
