#FodderScam: Ex-Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav Found Guilty

The special CBI court today convicted Ex-Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav guilty in one of the four pending fodder scam cases.

Soon after judgment, Lalu Prasad was taken into custody and taken to jail in Ranchi. The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on January 3.


Special CBI judge Shivpal Singh pronounced the verdict in a packed courtroom, reported PTI.


Lalu Prasad was among the 15 of the 22 accused found guilty by a special CBI court in Ranchi for the fraud of more than Rs. 89 lakh from the Deoghar Treasury between 1991 and 1994.

Before the verdict in the morning, Lalu had expressed his feelings for the country’s courts.
He said “We trust and respect the judiciary. We will not let BJP’s conspiracies work. The way things happened in the 2G case, they way they happened for Ashok Chavan, the same will happen for me.”

A charge sheet was filed against 38 person on October 27, 1997. Eleven of them died and three turned approvers while two other accused confessed and were convicted in 2006-07, a CBI official said.
