Vasundhara Raje announcements of installing full-length mirrors in the state’s government schools on September 5th, 2016, people and authorities have appreciated and welcomed this change. CM Raje was of the opinion that if the schools would have full-length mirrors installed, the school kids, as well as teachers, would remain aware of the importance of cleanliness. According to various famous psychology studies and surveys, it is proved that when you look into the mirror, it spreads a “feel good” factors among people. Using this data, CM Vasundhara Raje aimed to improve the feel good factor among students and improve their happiness index.

The authorities of Chittorgarh district administration has felt that mirrors can play a very crucial part and their mirror image could encourage the students to make cleanliness a part of their everyday routine life. Chittorgarh is located at a distance of 350 km approximately from the capital city Jaipur and has become the first district to initiate the drive of installing full-length mirrors in government schools and social welfare department and hostels. Through their mirror-photo, the children could see themselves and make efforts for being completely well-turned out.

The District Collector Inderjeet Singh said, “Most kids will not take a look at themselves before hurrying to school. But when a big mirror is right in front of you, it is impossible not to take a look at oneself. This will ensure that uniforms are neat, hair is combed, and the belt is in place and perhaps also give rise to healthy comparison among them, thus making them more cleanliness conscious.” This drive was initiated by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on September 5 for fulfilling her ambitious dream of a “Kushal Rajasthan”. There is no doubt that CM Vasundhara Raje is a true leader in every sense who helps people recognize and fulfill their dreams.

The first phase of mirror installations started right after the announcement of CM in various places, which has seen 15 of them being already installed in the hostels and empowerment departments which host around 800 students. The second phase will see mirrors installed in 11 Kasturba Gandhi Avasiya Balika Vidyalaya residential schools, which have around 950 students. All these hostels house students from economically weaker backgrounds.

The step has brought a major change in the life of students as a Class XII student Rakesh Regar said, “The new mirror has made us conscious about our looks. Before leaving for school, we often compare among ourselves who is looking the smartest or cleanest.” He belongs to a poor family and stays in Government Boys Hostel.
