GES 2017 : Ivanka Trump Says PM Modi’s Rise From Tea-Seller Is Exemplary

The International Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2017 started on Tuesday with US President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi who inaugurated the event in Hyderabad with the aim for calling more women across the world to become entrepreneurs

In the inauguration ceremony, PM Narendra Modi said to the young entrepreneur “To my entrepreneur friends from the across the globe, I would like to say: Come, Make in India, Invest in India- for India, and for the world. I invite each one of you to become a partner in India’s growth story. And once again assure you of our whole-hearted support”.

The event was attended by 1,500 entrepreneurs, investors and ecosystem supporters from 159 countries, Here Are Some Highlights From The GES 2017 Day 1.

Ivanka Trump speaking before the PM Modi, who is also the US President’s Adviser she said  “Transformational change has been proved by you, from selling tea in your childhood to becoming Prime Minister of India. India has a true friend in the White House, as President Trump has said earlier this year. When it comes to equitable laws, while many developed and developing countries have made tremendous strides, there is still much work to be done.”

Ivanka Trump greeted the female participants at the summit in her address she said, “ This year’s summit is focussed on a theme that is key to our future: Women First, Prosperity For All. I am proud that for the first ever, women make up the majority of the 1,500 entrepreneurs selected to attend.”

She stressed on how women to be a part of the entrepreneurial drive the world has witnessed and added,” Fueling the growth of women-led businesses isn’t simply good for our society, It’s good for our economy. One study estimates that closing the gender entrepreneurship gap worldwide could grow our global GDP by as much as 2 percent.”

“Just consider, if India closes the labor force gender gap by half, your economy could grow by over $150 billion in the next three years,” she said.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ivanka Trump were greeted by Mirta with a “Namaste”. Mitra an indigenously-built robot developed by the Bengaluru-based inventor. This is the 8th GES which brings together entrepreneurs, Investors and ecosystem supporters for mentoring, networking and investment matchmaking. This is the first time that the event is being held in South Asia.
