After a successful Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje has put boosting the Agri–sector at the top of her development agenda
The November of 2015 saw Rajasthan sparkle as some of the World’s best Industry Captains lines up in the capital city of Jaipur and showed their faith in the desert state by investing over 330 crores in different sectors. A brainchild of CM Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje, Resurgent Rajasthan was a big success and Rajasthan managed to create ample buzz in the investment markets. While CM herself has started monitoring the progress of the projects signed under Resurgent Rajasthan, she is now set to launch another mega event on similar lines. We recently told you about GRAM -2016 and how the Rajasthan Government is gearing to launch one of its kind mega-agro meet, probably the first one in the country as yet. The 3-day international event will be held from November 9-11 at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Center (JECC) at Sitapura in Jaipur. Jointly organized by the Government of Rajasthan and FICCI, the mega event is said to be attended by over 40,000 farmers.
The Government of Rajasthan is committed to developing agriculture and allied ecosystem to increase farm incomes in the state. The State has conceived Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet 2016 (GRAM 2016), an agri-technology and business event as a platform to transform and catalyze the process of improving the sustainability and economic viability of agriculture and allied activities shaping globalized, market-driven and profitable ventures. The event, to be held in November 2016, will bring together all stakeholders – farmers, academicians, technologists, agribusiness companies and policy makers – to accelerate development of sustainable agricultural and allied activities through innovative methods and best practices. Opportunities for entrepreneurship and partnership in these sectors will also be showcased at this platform.
Rajasthan has a very vibrant agriculture and animal husbandry sector. Agriculture and allied activities are a source of livelihood for a large number of people in the state. Rajasthan is the leading producer of a number of crops and animal products in the country. For Rajasthan, animal husbandry is as important a sector as Agriculture as it not only contributes to household incomes but also plays a vital role in mitigation of the effects of calamities such as drought.
Raje and her team is actively working towards her mission to double farm incomes by the year 2022. She has made policy, technological and infrastructural interventions for sustainable enhancement of farm productivity, reducing post-harvest losses, promoting farm based industries and ensuring higher return to the farmer while delivering better quality products to consumers. Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet has been conceived with a two-pronged objective of exposing our farming communities to the technological advancements and global best-practices while showcasing investment opportunities in the state to agri- business communities across the world.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje recently launched the logo, website and brochure of Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet at an official event. The mandana art displayed in the logo beautifully enwraps the source of all energy & life – the Sun. The State is now looking at finalizing Partner countries for the event and Israel seems to be on the top of the list. CM Raje has instructed the officials to concentrate efforts on adding values to the crops, tracking of progress, discovering new crops and crops that are more profitable. She has also asked the department to broaden horizons and look at new sectors like floriculture, agri-education, indigenous breed improvements, rented implements, increasing shelf life, tourism farms etc.
