Earlier today, Goa issued an alert to all the vessels and casinos operating off the coast, after an input was received regarding the arrival of terrorists on board a fishing trawler. It was informed by Goa’s Ports Minister Jayesh Salgaoncar that an alert was issued to all offshore casinos, water sports operators, and barges.

Reportedly, it all began when the Indian Coast Guard shared an intelligence input that a terror attack is possibly making its way to the western coast. However, the alert has not been issued specifically to Goa as it may also concern the Mumbai or Gujarat coast.

As per the statement of the minister, a fishing trawler from India was seized by Pakistan and has been released. It may carry terrorists on its way back to India. Since Mumbai is located nearby Goa, it’s also threatened to be the target of the terrorists.

The captain of Port James named Braganza wrote a letter to the water sports operators and state’s tourism department. In the letter, he mentioned that anti-national elements have boarded an Indian fishing boat in Karachi and are likely to attack the Indian coast. In the reports, Braganza also asked the vessels to tighten the security and to inform the concerned authorities about any sighting or suspicious movement.

As of now, nothing is confirmed about the attack but the authorities have braced themselves and the police force has been put in their position to ensure that India is prepared for any such mishap.
