For women, safety is the biggest concern. In India, Goa is considered to be the safest state for women. Other safe states are Kerala, Mizoram, Sikkim and Manipur. A report on the first-ever gender vulnerability index (GVI) revealed this data. The report was prepared by Plan India and released by the women and child development ministry. This report is prepared with the aim to identify the issues faced by the women. Four parameters have been used to judge it.
Know the index of the states
With a GVI, Goa tops the list of 0.656. Goa also ranks first in protection, fifth in education, sixth in health and survival, and eighth in poverty. Kerala is on second position in the index with a GVI of 0.634.
Talking about Bihar, it is on the bottom. It has a GVI of 0.410. In Bihar, women and girls being the most vulnerable, less healthy and poorer among the 30 states. Education is also ranked among the lowest, and protection is unsatisfactory.
