Gold Teaser Out: Akshay Kumar is Coming with this Sports Drama on Independence Day

The teaser of Akshay Kumar’s upcoming flick Gold is out and has already gone viral. It’s a one-minute long clip showing glimpses of India in 1948 when the nation won the Olympic Gold medal in Hockey. The film is based on the true story of independent India and narrates the story of a coach and his love for Hockey.

In the teaser, Akshay Kumar can be seen as a Bengali man dressed in a dhoti and jacket, an avatar he has never donned before. He says, “Hum Ek Pagal Bengali hai, hum hockey se Pyaar Karta Hai, Apna Desh se Pyaar Karta hai.”

The story narrates as to how Indians had won three gold medals but the players were still playing for British India. This man decides to form his team which would play for independent India and promises to bring gold for the nation.

The film also stars Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, and Kunal Kapoor in supporting roles. It has been produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani while the direction has been handled by Reema Kagti. It will hit the theatres on 15th August.

Akshay Kumar has done several patriotic films in his career like Baby, Airlift, etc and he knows very well what the role demands. In fact lately, the actor has chosen his films very keenly which are either aimed at giving out a strong social message or convey his immense love for the country.

Akshay is currently promoting his film PadMan which will soon be released in theatres on 9th February. The film is about a man who decides to improve the living conditions of females in rural parts of the country by providing them low cost sanitary pads.
