Google accused of paying less to women, despite declaring #EqualPayDay

Google has been accused of the US Department of Labour (DoL) of discriminating against its female employees by paying them less than their male counterparts.

Reportedly, DoL also has evidence of “systemic compensation disparities”, being practiced at the Google premises.

These allegations came as a result of Google’s announcement of ‘Equal Pay Day’. The IT major celebrated it’s ‘Equal Pay Day’, stating that they have ‘closed the gender pay gap globally’.

“Let’s make every day #EqualPayDay. All employers can take steps to eliminate the gender and race pay gaps, today,” @Google tweeted earlier this week.

DoL claimed, “The government has collected information that points towards the violation of federal employment laws by Google.”

“Every year, we do a comprehensive and robust analysis of pay across genders and we have found no gender pay gap. Other than making an unfounded statement which we heard for the first time in court, the DoL hasn’t provided any data, or shared its methodology,” a Googler spelled out.

Janette Wipper, a DoL regional director, testifying in a San Francisco court said, “We found systemic compensation disparities against women pretty much across the entire workforce.”

World’s roughly half population is battling for equal pay, it is apparently still a far cry. A lot needs to be done in the patriarchial world we are currently catering to. Women are slowly being accorded with equal respect and recognition at the workplace. Many women who are heading leading organizations in their niche have also been subjected to such pay discrimination, at some point their lives…

Although investigations are still underway, rumours are abuzz that Google is actually indulging in income disparity. DoL is in the process of revealing actual results of their ongoing investigation which will become evidence of Google’s misclaim.

Not only this, it is also reported that Google’s misclaim is being practiced to a great extent, and not at a minor scale.
