Gorilla Glass 5: The next by Corning Inc.

Gorilla Glass 5: The next by Corning Inc.

A new type of Gorilla Glass is about to enter the markets through the originators of gorilla glass, Corning Inc. Most likely the first mobile to get it would be Apple iPhone 7.

The company of Gorilla Glass brand, Corning Inc. says, “Gorilla Glass 5 survives drops onto rough surfaces four times better than other solutions, noting that clarity of the display and touch sensitivity are not affected.”

The best part of this Gorilla Glass 5 is that it would survive face down breaks from a height of 5.2 feet also. The product which is coming into the mobile world now, is the successor to Gorilla Glass 4. It was introduced in 2014. That glass had the capacity to save itself from a fall drop of 3.2 ft.

So we can see a notable improvement from the previous versions in this new one from Corning Inc.

Corning Inc.’s vice president and general manager, John Bayne says, “With each successive generation of Corning Gorilla Glass, we have taken cover glass technology to new levels. Gorilla Glass 5 is no exception, extending Corning’s advantage in drop performance over competitive glasses.

With many real-world drops occurring from between waist and shoulder height, we knew improving drop performance would be an important and necessary advancement.”

According to company stats, “the Gorilla Glass has been used on over 4.5 billion devices worldwide by over 40 different major brands.

Apparently both the companies must have had an agreement with each other to make this new launch happen. Since Apple is about to introduce its 7 series and all its specifications must have been shared with Corning Inc. in order to make gorilla glass making in perfection.

Undoubtedly both, Apple and Corning Inc. will profit a lot with the launch of each other as both benefit the other in absolute sense.
