Govt. extends deadline for Aadhar-PAN linking to December 31

If you haven’t yet linked your PAN card with Aadhar card till date, you may land in troubled waters if you don’t do so by December 31, the new deadline issued by the Indian government.

Today, the government extended the deadline by four months for linking PAN and Aadhar card to December 31.

Not only this, the government has also extended the grant limit for furnishing Aadhar for availing the benefits of a slew of various social welfare schemes.

According to Section 139 AA (2) of the Income Tax Act, “ every individual having PAN as on July 1, 2017, and also he if he is eligible to obtain Aadhaar, then he must intimate his Aadhaar number to the tax authorities.

“Unless a finding is made that Aadhaar is constitutionally not valid, tax return filers will need to link their PAN with Aadhaar by August 31, 2017,” the tax department issued a notification dated July 31.

“Income-tax returns filed will not be processed should tax filers fail to link Aadhaar and PAN on or before August 31, 2017. ” The deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar was previously July 31, but was extended to August 31,” the statement further added.

So, if you haven’t yet linked your PAN card with Aadhar card, then don’t wait till the last date. The government may impose stringent penalties. Get Going!
