Happy Birthday Paresh Rawal: 5 Roles of the Actor that no one else could have pulled off

Paresh Rawal may have aged but one thing that never ceases to age is his comic timing. If you look at him in the films back in the 90s and then look at him in the recent movies, the actor has only got better with his charm.

In a career spanning over more than 3 decades, there have been numerous characters across several genres brought to life through Rawal’s excellence but his comedy films clearly remain the highlight of his career.

As the legendary actor celebrates his 63rd birthday on 30th May, here are five most memorable roles played by Paresh Rawal that no one else could have pulled off:

1. Baburao Ganpatrao Apte (Hera Pheri)

Although we have seen Paresh Rawal in numerous comedy films, the character of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte is one of the most iconic roles that Indian cinema is proud of. From his Marathi accent to his expression and even his style of walking; there’s no one else who can pull of the Baburao role better than this maestro. A good news for the fans is that soon the actor will be seen in Hera Pheri 3 which is set to hit the theatres by next year.

2. Hari (Chachi 420)

Chachi 420 is an iconic film that has an ensemble cast of actors who are legendary in their own ways. Despite so many talented actors, the role of Hari Bhai portrayed by Paresh can’t be re-created or matched.

Hari Bhai is the landlord of Kamal Hassan in the film who flirts with a widow Laxmi who is actually Hassan disguised as a woman. Since the concept itself is so interesting, Rawal has added even more fun to the film with his class acting.

3. Teja (Andaz Apna Apna)

Andaz Apna Apna has loads of fun-filled elements and it still remains one of the favorite comedy films of many Indians. Rawal plays a double role of two brothers- Ram and Shyam whereby one is a disciplined, wealthy businessman while the other is a crook who wants to take away all the money.

Needless to say, the actor is not just convincing in both the roles but he is also the highlight of the film. With many actors coming and going throughout the length of the film, Paresh Rawal’s role of Teja will definitely make you glued to your seat.

4. Radheshyam Tiwari (Hungama)

Hungama re-unites the magical combination of actor Paresh Rawal and Director Priyadarshan. The film narrates the story of Radheshyam Tiwari, a simple man leading a simple life in his village. However, things take an interesting turn when he along with his wife decides to move to the city to take care of the business empire.

All the scenes in the film, especially between Paresh Rawal and Shoma Anand depicting the funny banter of the husband and wife, are quite hilarious to watch.

5. Elias (Aankhen)

Aankhen is not a comedy film but rather focused on a bank robbery crime for which three blind men are hired. However, the comedy part is just unavoidable when there’s Paresh Rawal in the film. Although there are a lot of emotions and drama depicted by his character, he simply adds fun to the serious turn of events at various instances.
