  • Shatrughan Sinha has had a special mythological connection with his life. He was named Shatrughan as he was the youngest of his brothers whose names are Ram, Lakshman, and Bharat. Not only this, he has also named his twins Luv and Kush. To top it all, his mansion is named Ramayan.

  • He was born in Bihar on 9th December 1945 and gained education from Patna Science College. Later, he joined the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune to learn acting.  Presently, the same institute offers scholarships to diploma students in his name. He bagged his first chance for acting as a Pakistani Military Office in Dev Anand’s film Prem Pujari. However, due to delayed release, he was first seen in the small role of an inspector in Sajan (1969).
  • Shatrughan Sinha contested by-elections opposite Rajesh Khanna and quoted it as his biggest regret. The elections affected the friendship between the two actors. Khanna was hurt and never spoke to Sinha even though the latter wished to mend the friendship; it couldn’t happen until Rajesh Khanna’s death. Later, Shatrughan Sinha became the first Bollywood hero to have a public portfolio.

  • Throughout his acting career, Sinha has acted in more than 50 films. He even lent his voice as a playback singer for certain films like Dost, Jwalamukhi, and Naram Garam. Owing to the big success of his film Kalicharan, he declared to disburse bonus to the crew on the film’s release.
  • Even though the actor is known for his trademark dialogue “Khamosh”, he himself is unaware of the source it came from. In an interview, he was quoted as saying, “Even I don’t remember when I first used the word”.

Although Shatrughan Sinha is no more involved with films, he is often found making remarks that keep him in the headlines. Recently, he lashed out at Sanjay Leela Bhansali over Padmavati and in turn, was honored by Karni Sena for speaking against the film.
