Airtel, the telecom sector tycoon has taken a step towards attracting the customers and making a deal by launching Airtel ‘Happy Hours’ plan for the prepaid customers of Airtel. This plan allows prepaid customers to get 50% of data back for all the in-app content downloads which happen to be scheduled between 3:00 am to 5:00 am in the morning. The data used between this time duration will be credited back to their account after 6:00 am every morning. It could be understood with an illustration like if the users download a 200 MB data between 3:00 to 5:00 am in the morning, then 100 MB will be credited back to their account by 6:00 am in the morning.
This offer is said to be beneficial to both the app developers as well as the pre-paid users as the developers can give their users the option to automatically schedule their downloads between 3 to 5 am in the morning. But for this, the app developer will have to integrate with the Airtel Happy Hours in four simple steps. The best part is that the developers will not have to pay anything to Airtel for this feature to be clubbed in their apps. The app like YouTube and FastFilmz have already integrated the product into their apps after Airtel received a positive feedback from the developers at Great Indian Developers Summit (GIDS) earlier this year. The feature can be accessed easily by the customers like in YouTube, an Airtel pre-paid customer needs to choose the Smart Offline option on his/her favorite videos and selects ‘Save overnight with Airtel Happy Hours’ to automatically save the video between 3.00 am and 5.00 am with 50% data back.
A huge benefit to both developers and users would be there because of this feature as the developers can schedule more in-app content downloads whereas the app users can schedule their non-urgent and heavy downloads without staying up late and making 50% save on data at the same time. Happy Hours is available to all the Airtel Prepaid customers by default and it doesn’t require any sort of opt-in. but in case a customer doesn’t have a data pack, then the discounted rates of 0.4 Paisa/10 Kb will apply during Happy Hours.
